You keep ending up in the same kind of relationship, or the same kind of conflict, and you're starting to wonder if the common denominator is you. Or maybe you're moving through a breakup, a divorce, or another major life transition, and you don't feel like yourself right now. Individual therapy is for anyone who wants to understand their own patterns more clearly and build a life, and relationships, that actually fit who they are.
What we'll do together
We can look at the patterns you tend to repeat, in relationships and in how you treat yourself, and work through whatever life stress or transition brought you in. Much of this work centers on building emotional intelligence: learning to recognize what you're feeling, understand where it's coming from, and regulate it without shutting down or getting swept away by it.
I draw primarily on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which focuses on aligning your actions with your values rather than fighting the hard feelings, alongside Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) tools depending on what's most useful for you. Over time, this work tends to build real self-understanding and self-compassion, not just coping strategies.
This work is personal, and it moves at your pace. Some weeks we'll dig into something hard; other weeks are about catching your breath. Either way, you'll leave with a clearer sense of yourself and where you're headed.
I'm Emily Burdette, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist offering virtual individual therapy throughout Washington State. Sessions are $175 for 50 minutes, and we'll start with a free 20-minute consultation to see if we're the right fit, no pressure, no obligation to continue. You don't need a crisis to start, just a sense that something could feel different.
